CHARGEMASTER REVIEW

Hospital coders can code all charges properly, but if your chargemaster is not optimized, the facility will not receive payments for provided services; there may also be compliance issues related to interval changes in coding policy. MRSI will review your chargemaster to ensure that all appropriate Emergency Medicine CPT codes are included, that they are priced properly based on your costs in your metropolitan statistical area, that selected input data actually map to the appropriate codes, and that these generate the correct charge and descriptor on your UB-92. For instance, for Medicare, the chargemaster mapping algorithm for infusion coding changed in 2005, which is a high-volume ED procedure. Additionally, MRSI reviews your system to ensure the appropriate use of CPT code modifiers.

For hospitals that directly employ their physicians, MRSI also provides an analysis to insure that charge allocation is appropriate and that the chargemaster has internal, code sets for procedures performed by private or non-ED physicians. This insures that your facility is compliant and that the technical component fee for such procedures is identified and correctly coded.
