PHYSICIAN EDUCATION To improve physician documentation, MRSI provides both ongoing didactic and chart specific feedback to group physicians; we also emphasize the importance to the facility of timely and complete medical record documentation. MRSI was started by practicing ED physicians, who are active in both didactic and physician to physician education. MRSI’s physicians review and discuss specific ED records in a forum that has consistently been very well received. In addition to expert certified ED coders, MRSI’s physician leadership lectures nationally and locally on documentation and reimbursement issues and provides consultative and auditing services to both fee for service and hospital employed practices. For the facility component of education, MRSI works with the physician group in a collegial manner to emphasize the importance of both timely documentation and thorough documentation of procedures performed; we have also been successful in eliminating denials for ancillary services which occur as a result of the physician’s failure to document the medical necessity of the study. Our order sheet, overall chart design, and professional component educational services are described in other areas of this website. |
